Bookmark Properties Dialog
Bookmark properties dialog allows viewing and changing some bookmark property values, such as bookmark name, URL, bookmark description, auto-check schedule and actions.
You can display this dialog window selecting bookmarks and clicking "Bookmarks / Properties" menu item or press <Ctrl>+<Enter> hot key.
There are several tabs in this dialog window: Content Info tab, Descriptions tab, AutoCheck Settings tab, Actions tab;
Set as Default
Press this button to save the current settings as default. The default settings apply when the new bookmark is created.
Content Info tab
Content Info tab is the main tab of the Bookmark Properties dialog.
You can view and change the next values here:
Name – the name of the bookmark displaying on the Check&Get’s bookmark list.
Check&Get fills this field automatically from web page title on “check” or “explore” operation if this field blank. Check&Get do not change the Name if you enter it manually.
URL – fill here the location of web page you want to bookmark.
Check&Get supports HTTP and FTP network protocols, so this field may looks like this: http://checkget.udm.net
Remark: URL is a Universal Resource Locator. Much as you have a unique address in the real world, all web pages on the Internet have their own unique address. This address is called the URL.Checking Settings
Need User-Id and Password
Some web-pages or ftp servers require authorization. It means that users can not access this web-page or ftp-server without submitting a proper user-id and password.
If your page requires authorization, switch on the “Need User-Id and Password” checkbox and fill User and Password values.
Keep URL on redirections
Some web pages requests the browser to change (redirect) the current URL. For example, if you open the http://www.abcnews.com in your browser you will be redirected to the http://abcnews.go.com/ URL.
Check&Get processes the redirect requests like the browsers and downloads the correct web page for checking. When redirect is requested, Check&Get changes the URL value of the bookmark to the requested value for faster processing.
If you do not want that URL value of selected bookmark be changed when web site requests the redirection, switch on the "Keep URL on redirections" checkbox.
Information box
Here is some information about the content of web-page:
- Last Check - the date and time of the last check of this URL;
- Last Modified - the date and time when URL content changes detected;
- Content type - here is the content type extracted from http header. Usually content type is “text/html” - the common type of html documents;
- Length - here is the “declared” size of web-page, extracted from the http header;
Buttons
You can execute “Check”, “Explore”, “Abort” or “View Log” operations by pressing appropriate button below the Content Info tab pane.
Descriptions tab
Bookmark Description
Enter your description of the bookmark in this field (max 255 chars).
Info, imported from the web page
The different kind of information of web page. Select the frame from frame list to view the information of the web page, like web page description (if available) and imported keywords for searching.
Press the 
button to open the
specified frame in the web browser.
Auto-check settings tab
There are two sections on this tab: Auto-Check Schedule and Check Method.
Auto-Check Schedule section
Check&Get can check your bookmarks automatically by individual bookmark schedule.
If you want to enable this feature do the following steps:
- Switch on "AutoCheck this bookmark every” checkbox to enable auto-checking of selected bookmarks.
- Select interval and time-unit for auto-checking on the right side of checkbox. You can select the following time-units: minutes, hours, days, weeks, months.
- Select start-date and time of the first checking.
Check Method section
Check Method is a method of checking of web-page.
Check&Get supports several methods of web-page checking and provides an intellectual algorithm of auto-choosing the best suitable method for specified web-page. The check method for specific web-page is selected automatically when you “Explore” web-page.
Therefore you do not need to select “Check Method” (but you can). Check&Get do this automatically.
Check&Get supports the following methods of checking:
- HTTP Header Analysis
The fastest method of checking. If this method selected than instead of receiving the full document from Internet Check&Get gets small http header of web-page and analyze it. If document header contains info that the web-page was changed – Check&Get checkmarks the bookmark and does Action.
HTTP Header Analysis not only the fastest method of checking but also the most reliable. Nevertheless, many (if not the most) of the Internet web-sites do not put the correct information about the web-page to the http header of web-page. So, unfortunately in many cases you can not use this fast, easy and reliable method.
- Exact content analysis
If this method selected Check&Get downloads the document and compare it with its previous version. If any changes detected Check&Get inform you about if doing the actions.
This method is useful if you want to track any document changes. Nevertheless, most of the web-pages contain some always changing non important information such us banner advertisement or different counters. Therefore, if “Exact content analysis” selected, Check&Get detects the changes of such kind of web-page on every checking. Use “Smart content analysis” to avoid it.
- Smart content analysis
If this method selected Check&Get downloads the document and compare it with its previous version but in contrast to “Exact content analysis”, Check&Get ignore some “informational garbage” such as different kind of advertisement and so on.
So, if “Smart content analysis” selected, Check&Get detects only essential changes on the web-page and ignores any changes, considered as “informational garbage”.
Select this method if the “Exact content analysis” works badly.
- Incompatible
Some of the page contains always changing information of content. Therefore, it’s no sense to check this page because it’s always changed. Such web-page can be considered as Check&Get incompatible.
Actions tab
You can specify the actions which Check&Get executes when URL content changes detected.
This version of Check&Get can execute the following Actions:
- Show notification message box – if switched on than Alert Box would be appeared when changes detected;
- Play Sound – if checked than specified sound will be played when content changes detected;
The following actions is available for registered users of Check&Get only:
- Send E-mail to – if checked than e-mail message will be sent to specified e-mail address when content changes detected. Switch on “Include content to e-mail message” if you want to receive message in html format with the changed web page like you see it in your browser;
Enter the list of e-mail recipients of this notification delimited by "space" char.
If you leave this field empty, the e-mail message will be sent to the default recipient list, configured in the E-Mail Settings.
- Download to – specify the path and name of the file, where changed content will be downloaded.
You can use it to automatically downloading updated files and software updates from Internet.
